Stockbroker and Securities Fraud

image description Our stockbroker fraud attorneys represent investors who have lost money because of the wrongful actions of investment advisors and their firms. We are equipped with the knowledge and resources to handle a broad range of securities fraud claims, including those involving high yield investment fraud, Ponzi schemes, advanced fee schemes, broker embezzlement, hedge fund related fraud and late day trading.

Our attorneys at the law firm have an in-depth knowledge of securities laws and assist individual investors in cases involving stock market fraud. Because large, well-connected firms are powerful profit drivers for Wall Street firms, giving them inside information is one of the ways Wall Street firms get and keep them as clients. But, this means that retail investors and the public often get the short end of the stick.

Facebook IPO

A recent example of this involves the Facebook IPO, which could go down in history as one of the biggest opening flops in stock market history. By the third day of trading the price had dropped more than 18 percent.

Regulators are still investigating to determine whether Facebook’s underwriters committed wrongdoing. What has been reported, thus far, is that wealthy, privileged clients started backing out after receiving information about concerns over the company’s earnings. The information was never shared with retail investors or the public.

Retail investors purchased about 25 percent of Facebook’s 421 million shares. And after a few days, the total value of these shares dropped more than $500 million. Investigations continue, but by the looks of it, Facebook’s underwriters may have breeched one of their fiduciary duties , which is to be open and honest with the public.

As investigations continue, the public may be left with an even more sour taste about the stock market.
